Include a Ladder Gate® Climb Preventive Shield in your specifications to control access to fixed ladders on tanks, towers, buildings, and other high structures. It controls access to the ladders to minimize vandalism and reduce injuries, and your liability.
General Specifications
The contractor is to furnish and fully install a lockable Ladder Gate® Climb Preventive Shield on the ladder or ladders of the structure to control unauthorized access. Ladder Gate® is a registered Trademark of R B Industries.
If Detailed Specifications are required, include the following: The shield is to be made of aluminum with a minimum thickness of 1/8 inch, and all supporting hardware is to be hot dipped galvanized. The shield is often more effective if installed a minimum of 10 feet above the ground, with the angled sides enclosing the ladder to prevent reaching around or over it. When unlocked, the shield must swing open like a door or gate to allow access to the ladder by authorized climber. The shield must be installed without altering the ladder and must be able to cover a safety bar, cable or rail, if installed. The ladder shield must be able to be installed so it can be opened either to the right or to the left. The shield must also have the capability of being front-locked or side-locked.
